1- 2 days and they need lots of rest

My dog stayed overnight, they called me after his surgery and told me how things were going. I picked him up the next morning and they sent me home with meds and told me to keep him from jumping for a while. I felt better him staying overnight, that way the anesthia wore off and he was his normal self.

I just had my dogs fixed the female they kept 2 days. 1 male surgery was in the morning and he came home in the afternoon. The other male they kept overnight, of course this could all change due to unforseen issues.

where i use to work, this was the schedule:

cat neuters: no overnight stay
cat spays: 1 night
dog neuters: 1 or 2 nights depending on size and age of dog
dog spays: 1 or 2 nights depending

all animals received pain medication and went home with pain meds. buprenex for cats and tramadol for dogs.

Around here…neuters are done in the am and send home in the pm
Spays go home the next day.
Cat declaws stay 2 days.
