My husband calls his walk with our grey his morning “drag.” She’s not very into it. Once she got off the track, she figured she was done. It all depends on the personality and energy level of the grey you adopt. Certainly two 20 minute walks would be enough; one is more than ours wants!

they do need to be walked EVERY day but they don’t need long walks. Two 20 minute walks a day will usually do the trick.x

I can’t believe that people actually kill these dogs. Being around these dogs can give people much more enjoyment than watching them race.

Adorable, I’ve had 3 from being 8 week old pups, 2 from same litter. i remember the fun with them lolloping around with their gangly spaghetti legs, Daisy is now 11, Maisy almost 10 and sadly her litter mate Millie died aged 4. Mine are totally pets, never raced and they’re the only breed of dogs i’d ever have from pups in the future, even though I also have Border Collies and previously a GSD.

Puppies have very sharp teeth and the greyhounds run very fast. put the two together and you have “Flying razors”. Greyhounds DO NOT need to be walked everyday as they are sprinters and sleep all day. you’ll need to do some research on greyhounds if you want one as they and NOT like other dogs. They are more like 80lb cats.

What does ‘Flying razors’ mean? I want to get a greyhound as a pet not to race. From watching your vid they are just like my staffy pups, very playful. How are they as pets? I’m sure they will need to be walked everyday. I love dogs and I’m begging my fiance to get one. How are they with other dogs? They’re beautiful.

my daughter and i have saved 9 greyhounds in recent years. my last one, Smut, died in 1997 and i miss him horribly. they are terribly funny dogs….their sense of humour is better than most human beings. and they are LAZY. they have had all of the running that they can stand in years past.

    Save a Greyt!!

I love this video as it shows just how social the dogs are. I have 4 retired racers and 1 pup. (you can hear them begging to get into the kitchen in the background) Before anyone thinks about wanting a Greyhound pup, please think about the words “flying razors”. I’ll take pit bull pups over greyhound pups any day.

Gotcha. I’m glad to hear you stepped in to care for them and kudos to the breeder for giving you the chance to do so. Even though they were not going to make it racing they can still bring somebody happiness. Good job and thanks for the reply.

I know a breeder and we rescue retired greyhounds from him. In one litter and one of the puppies, Peanut, was a runt and he was about 2 pounds lighter than his brothers. The breeder thought he would die so we took him home with his brother Elton who had a bad foot which he had to have partly amputated. Ellie Bean, she was a runt too, similarly he called us and asked if we wanted to take her. We were just lucky, they are great even if they were “lemons”.

Get educated about the Greyhound Industry
before you say crap like that. Visit some kennels, farms etc… then your response will be respected. Quit luring people to give money to organizations like PETA, GREY$2K, etc.. that want your money by lying about the industry so they can live in the lap of luxury instead of making a living off hard work.
